Ways To Use Christmas Spirit Essential Oil
There is nothing quite like the glow of a Christmas tree, a fire crackling, hot cocoa and a holiday scent filling the air! My favorite way to make our home smell amazing all winter is diffusing essential oils and Christmas Spirit is the best! This oil is a Young Living essential oil blend of Northern Lights Black Spruce, Orange, and Cinnamon Bark. The combination of evergreen, citrus, and spice has the comforting aroma of the holiday season! There are many other ways to use Christmas Spirit essential oil besides diffusing. These also make great gift ideas for the holidays!
Linen and room sprays

A room spray is an easy way to customize a scent for different rooms to quickly freshen up a space. We like to have room and linen sprays in bathrooms and bedrooms especially. A DIY air freshener like this one can be used in place of toxic fabric and air fresheners. They are incredibly easy to make. Another option is a tree spray. If you want to smell of a real tree but the easy of a fake one make a spray using the same directions and fill it with your favorite tree oil like Idaho blue spruce, balsam fir, pine or northern lights black spruce.
To make a room/linen spray
- Take a 4 oz glass spray bottle (I used amber because oils are light sensitive, try to keep out of direct sunlight)
- Fill 2/3 of the way with water
- Add 20-40 drops of oil depending on how strong you prefer it
- Top with vodka or witch hazel (water and oil naturally separate so this helps marry them together)
- Shake well before each use
- Spray in the air, on pillows, or linens.
Ornaments
Salt dough or clay ornaments are always a fun holiday project especially with small children. They can be taken up a notch by adding a scent of the season. Once your ornament is finished and cooled place a few drops of essential oils on the back and hang them on your Christmas tree. When you walk by the tree you can smell the familiar notes of spruce and pine. Refresh the drops throughout the season as needed. These make the perfect gifts for grandparents.

I like to add Idaho blue spruce, pine or northern lights black spruce essential oils to get the traditional Christmas trees smell but Christmas Spirit is a great option as well.
DIY candles
In a previous post I showed how I make candles at home. I enjoy burning candles during the fall and winter months to get that cozy feel. Conventional candles are filled with toxins that we don’t want to be breathing in. Instead opt for pure beeswax candles.
While making the candles you can add 20-30 drops of an oil of your choice. Homemade candles always make popular Christmas gifts.
Dryer Balls
My kids love when their sheets smells like candy canes! Instead of using toxic dryer sheets switch to wool dryer balls. They decrease drying time and by placing drops of essential oils on them it’s a great way to add natural fragrance to your clothes, sheets and linen. Start with a couple drops to make sure there isn’t a possible skin sensitivity to an oil for anyone in your family.
Christmas Spirit, peppermint and Stress Away are some of our winter go tos.
Cotton Balls
Try adding a couple drops of essential oils to cotton balls and placing them in dresser drawers. Alternatively, take cedar chips place many drops of an essential oil on them, wrap them in cheese cloth or mesh bag, and place them in a drawer. You can also put the oil infused cotton balls in your air vents in your car for a car air freshener, or inside stinky shoes or gym bags as well.
Diffusing

Obviously the number one we use Christmas Spirit oil in our home is by using an essential oil diffuser. Diffusing gives your entire home the smell of Christmas! Some of my favorite oils to have on hand for the holiday season are Idaho blue spruce, cinnamon bark, nutmeg, northern lights black spruce, thieves, vanilla, and orange essential oil. There are endless diffuser blend combos with these oils! I have a post sharing my favorite fall and winter diffuser blends. Here is also a winter bundle with the best oils to have on hand for winter.
Christmas cards
Ok, hear me out and your Christmas card will stand out from the rest this year! Take a cotton ball and put 3-4 drops of Christmas Spirit essential oil on it, place that with the wet part facing down inside a gallon ziplock bag. Place your stack of Christmas cards on top of the cotton ball and seal it. Making sure the wetness of the essential oil dose not touch your cards. Leave it for 24 hours. Remove your cards, place them directly in the addressed envelopes and mail them. When your friends and family open your card the aroma of Christmas Spirit will be released! How fun and festive is that?!

Cautions
All essential oils need to be kept out of the reach of children. Most of these oils that have a spicy aroma are “hot oils” and can irritate skin if they are not properly diluted for topical use.
Traditions
This is the time of year where all the hustle and bustle of holiday events can seem overwhelming. Spending time with loved ones, making new memories that can turn into family traditions and of course remembering the reason for the season is what this time of year is all about. Memories are often tied to our sense of smell. There are still times when I smell a scent and am instantly taken back to Christmas morning as a child.
I hope your holiday season is filled with joy and cheer!
